Joycie Laverne Wilson Venable, age 86, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Summer House Alexandria.
Visitation for Mrs. Venable will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Gallagher Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A Committal Service will be held at the Forest Lawn Mausoleum at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Jeremy Venable officiating.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Venable; son, Rodney Venable; parents, Curtis Wilson and Rosie Bearden Wilson; and her sister, Wyatta Carter.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Steven Venable (Lisa) and Debra Daigle (Donald); siblings, Patsy Kendrick and Curtis Wilson, Jr. (Sue); grandchildren, Jeremy Venable (Carol), Joshua Venable, Ashley Marler, Brandt Daigle (Madison), Mallori Feazell (Kyle); great grandchildren, Baylen Venable, Bryce and Easton Marler, Paxton and Emorie Daigle, Casen and Evelyn Feazell; and a host of extended family.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Nurse Ruby, Compassionate Care Hospice Aid Laura, and the staff at Summer House for their care and kindness.
Mrs. Joycie was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a very proud and dedicated Air Force military wife. It was during this time that she spent roughly 15 years at England Airpark working in several different Department of Defense positions. After retirement she and Mr. Herman frequently took bus tours all over the United States, for weeks at a time. Her love did not end with Mr. Herman; she took great pride in raising her family and keeping her home in order. She enjoyed baking, being a homemaker, and had a fondness for hummingbirds. Mrs. Joycie will forever be missed by those that loved and knew her.
