Dorothy E Joule ObituaryDorothy E. Joule, age 78, of Parlin, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, with her loving family by her side. Born and raised in Brooklyn to the late Richard and Elizabeth Chapman, Dorothy moved to New Jersey in 1999, settling in Parlin.
Dorothy was a woman of incredible dedication, compassion, and community spirit. She worked for Verizon as a lineman, breaking barriers in a traditionally male-dominated field. Her passion for helping others extended far beyond her professional life-she tutored English as a Second Language (ESL), helped adults earn their GEDs, and was a strong advocate for the elderly in nursing homes. A lifelong learner and active community member, she was involved in several clubs including a book club, Mahjong club, and crochet club. Dorothy was also a devoted animal rescuer, giving love and a second chance to countless animals in need.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 50 years, John Joule, and her siblings, Ronnie and Donna Chapman.
Dorothy is survived by her children and their spouses, Erik and Roseann Joule, Krista and Erik Bergstol; her loving grandchildren, Heather, Jessica, Erik Christopher, and Kelly; her siblings Richard, Mary, and Robert; her cherished rescued furbabies, Davey, Roo, and Banjo; as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
