Dorothy “Dottie” Luckenbach Kressly, 87, of Glen Mills, PA, passed away December 15, 2025.
Born October 21, 1938 in Bedford, PA, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Tressa (nee Ickes) Bulfin.
Dottie attended Lowell Elementary school in Chicago, IL. She attended middle school in Altoona, PA and later moved to Springfield, PA where she graduated from Ridley Township High School in 1956. Dottie graduated from The Moore College of Art in Philadelphia with a degree in fashion design and also taught at the college for several years after graduating in the early to mid-1960s. After raising her children at home, Dottie returned to West Chester University in the early 1980s and received a Master’s Degree in Psychology. She worked for several years at Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital as a Clinical Psychologist. One of her favorite “jobs” was working as a playground aide at Thornbury Elementary School in the mid to late-1970s. For the rest of her life, she would often run into and hear from the children she looked over on the playground which always brought a smile to her face.
Dottie had a love for antiques and gardening and was a long-time member of the Locksley Garden Club. She was also a member of The Questers and an active member in the Thornbury Historical Society. Dottie was an avid reader and enjoyed the challenge of a good crossword puzzle in the Sunday Philadelphia Inquirer.
Dorothy was the beloved mother of Corry Luckenbach and Chadd Luckenbach; adoring grandmother of Drew Luckenbach, Danny Luckenbach, Tyler Johnson, and Chase Johnson; dear sister of Jim Bulfin and Dave Bulfin; and cherished companion of Al Betz. She was predeceased by her first husband, Richard “Bud” Luckenbach, her second husband, Burris Kressly; and her daughter, Jane Luckenbach Johnson.
