Dorothy M. Luttenegger, 91, of Burlington, died Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born June 10, 1931, in Hancock County, Illinois, she was the daughter of Orval Richard and Mary Winifred Roeder Manley. On May 9, 1992, she married Robert Joseph Luttenegger in Burlington. On November 10, 2008, he passed away.
Dorothy was the owner of the Bread Basket restaurant in Oakville and also owned a beauty shop for 30 years. She was also the Mayor of Oakville where she was a volunteer member of the Oakville Fire Department.
She was a member of Burlington Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener and earned the title of Good Earth Organic Gardening for 20 years. Dorothy was always outside, working on her flowers and bird watching. She enjoyed baking, quilting, sewing, and researching genealogy. Her family meant a great deal to her and she loved spending time with them.
Survivors include her son, John (Jean) Mitchell of Danville; daughter, Diana (Don) Altimus of Mediapolis; three step-sons, Mike (Caren) Luttenegger of Burlington, Dan (Mary) Luttenegger of Burlington and Tim (Lori) Luttenegger of Olathe, KS; step-daughter, Debbie (Ron) Grecksch of Peoria, IL; daughter-in-law, Jeannette Rice of Mt. Pleasant; eight grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Manley of Basco, IL and James (Beverly) Manley of Plymouth, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, David Rice, brother, Thomas Manley, infant sister, Viola Manley, step-son, Jeff Luttenegger and sister-in-law, Dorothy Ann Manley.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM Monday, October 24, 2022 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The celebration of life for Dorothy will be 10:00 AM Monday, October 24, 2022, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home. Burial will be in Round Prairie Cemetery in Plymouth, IL.
Memorials have been established for Burlington Baptist Church and On His Path Foundation.
