Dorothy A. (Lee) Massad, 88, of Worcester, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, surrounded by her loving family, in the comfort of her home. Her beloved husband, of forty-eight years, Donald G. Massad, predeceased her in June 2005.
Dorothy is survived by their children, Donald Massad, Jr. and his wife Rhonda, Dennis Massad, Diana Couillard and her husband Peter, Douglas Massad and his wife Ann, and Doreen O'Neil and her husband Stephen; five grandchildren, Tyler and Alex O'Neil, Kyle Couillard, Brielle Keena, and Jonathan Martinez; two great grandchildren, Colton and Charlotte. She is also survived by a sister, Helen Fairbanks; three brothers, Donald Lee, William Gibney, and Richard "Bud" Gibney; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Lee. Dorothy was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, John and Agnes (Wrenn) Lee, and has lived here all her life. Dorothy lost her parents at an early age, and was raised by her cousin, Richard "Bud" Gibney and his wife Frances; these are the family that Dorothy's children consider to be their grandparents.
Dorothy was dedicated to caring for her family and enjoyed celebrating holidays and special occasions. She was very proud of her Irish heritage as well as her "hole in one", which she achieved at the tender age of 76. She enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Worcester County Women's Golf League. She enjoyed reading, travelling, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Calling Hours will be on Friday, February 24, from 9 a.m. until her Funeral Service begins at 12 Noon in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Worcester Community Fridges (Woofridge.org)
