Dorothy J. McCarey, 88 of Middletown, N.Y. and Hutchinson Island, Stuart, Florida peacefully passed away at home on August 15, 2025.
She was born on September 12, 1936, to Frank and Myrtle Ryder, graduated from Middletown High School and Orange County Community College. She was married to David S. McCarey and his partner in business for over 40 years. She was a past member of the West Hills Country Club in Middletown, N.Y. and the Ocean Club, Stuart, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her son Darren K. McCarey and her brother and sister-in-law Robert R. and Flora Ryder.
She is survived by her children David M. McCarey (Nancy) of Circleville, N.Y. Mark L. McCarey (Janet) and Dawn L. Zazzero (Gerald) both of Middletown, N.Y. Her grandchildren Kendall McCarey, David McCarey IV, Jenna Andersen (Nicholas), Mark S. McCarey, Michael McCarey (Gudmundur Olafsson), Jessica McCarey, Gerald D. Zazzero (Veronica) and Vincent Zazzero (Chelsea). Her great-grandchildren Brooke, Levi, Francesca, Ester and Olafur and several nieces and nephews.
At her request there will be no visitation, and funeral arrangements will be private.
