Dorothy (Dot) DeYoung McHugh, age 94, peacefully entered her Heavenly Home on January 16, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Jesse L and Minnie C. DeYoung.
Dot was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother. Her smile would light a room and her warm nature encouraged others. She was married to her high school sweet-heart for 60 years, Andrew Thomas McHugh. Their lives together formed a true legacy.
She was a life-long devoted member of Sharon Methodist Church, serving in various leadership roles throughout the years. She was a member of the Bennett-Brockman-Jackson Sunday School class and the church choir.
Dot was a banker by profession. She served the Greer community with The Bank of Greer/United Carolina Banks for 30 plus years. She also served on the Board of Directors for Allen Bennett Hospital and was a faithful volunteer for Meals on Wheels- Greer Ministry for over 20 years.
Surviving are her only daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Larry Parham of Duncan; three grand-daughters Kristin Shook (Dan), Lauren Pope (Wes), and Leslie Acree; Five great-grandchildren, the joy of her later years, Madison Spehar (Ty), Andrew Spehar (Josie Geen), Beckett, Wade, and Tilden Pope. In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, Andrew Thomas McHugh; Eight brothers, Andrew, Ralph, Troy, Robert, Hugh, JW, Oneal, and Earl DeYoung; One sister, Annie Bridges; One grandson (in her heart) Harrison Acree.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Monday, January 19, 2026 at Sharon Methodist Church with Pastor Scott Allen and her granddaughter, Kristin Shook officiating. The family will receive friends from 1PM until 2PM prior to the service. Interment will be held in the church cemetery.

I will be praying for all of y´all. Dorothy is someone that was a true gem! She had the sweetest spirit and always smiling. She loved me and Leslie being such good friends. During childhood Leslie and myself would walk over to visit Dot and she would always be so glad to see us together playing! My heart goes out to you, Leslie, and you as well Pam, Larry, Lauren, everyone in the family. I´m certain The Lord greeted her with Well done Thy good and faithful servant...
She had a huge heart for Christ and His light radiated out of her to everyone she met. May God give you peace and comfort today, tomorrow, and all the days to come. All my love and prayers,
