Dorothy A. Olson, 99, of Newman Grove, NE passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home in Newman Grove, NE.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Newman Grove, NE with Rev. Claire Meyer officiating. Visitation will be prior to the funeral from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Salem Cemetery. Everyone is invited back to the Newman Grove Community Center for lunch.
Memorials are suggested to Mid Nebraska Lutheran Home or Trinity Lutheran Church Newman Grove.

www.levanderfuneralhome.comDorothy Amanda Olson was the daughter of Carl Oscar and Helen (Flink) Gustafson and was born February 11, 1927 at their home in rural Platte County.
She was baptized on March 25,1927 at the Zion Lutheran Parsonage in Newman Grove by Rev. Bertram Swanson. She was confirmed in 1942 at Salem Lutheran Church, rural St. Edward by the Rev. Clarence Anderson.
Dorothy attended Platte County District #57 and graduated from Newman Grove High School in May of 1945. She completed the Normal Training Course while in high school. She then taught for 2 years at District 49 in Boone County.
On June 20,1948 Dorothy was united in marriage to Clifford C. Olson at Salem Lutheran Church. Clifford and Dorothy made their home on the farm south of Newman Grove. This is where they raised their three children, Annetta, Darla and Calvin.
Dorothy was a member of Salem Lutheran Church until 1996 when she and Clifford became members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Newman Grove.
Dorothy taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years at Salem and was active in the ladies' organizations of the church. She was employed at Mid NE Lutheran Home from 1968 to 1989 as a certified medication aide. She was a member of the Mid NE Lutheran Home Auxiliary. She volunteered at MNLH, Boone County Health Center and Senior Centers in Newman Grove and Albion for many years. She was chairman of the Newman Grove bloodmobile for several years.
Her hobbies included sewing, crafts, and making quilts for the Lutheran World Relief.
In April of 2003, after 55 years on the farm, Clifford and Dorothy moved to Albion. In July of 2017 Dorothy went to live at the Newman House Assisted Living in Newman Grove. She had been a resident of Mid NE Lutheran Home since July 2022.
Dorothy was a loving and caring person, a great cook, baker, gardener and seamstress. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Dorothy is survived by her 2 daughters, Annetta Gallant of Scribner, NE and Darla Westmore and husband Charlie of Ogallala, NE and 1 son, Calvin Olson of Columbus, NE. 4 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; Victoria(Gallant) Kohout and husband Joe of Omaha and their sons Jackson of Lincoln and Harrison of Omaha ; Elizabeth(Gallant) McDonald and her husband Daniel of Lawton, OK and their children Caroline of Norman, OK, Hudson and Natalie of Lawton, OK.; Craig Westmore and his wife Kari of Lincoln and their children Lenora, Miriam, Simon, , Finnian, Amelia, Oscar and Ignatius; Caleb Westmore and his wife Megan of McKinney, TX. and their daughters Brielle, Lynlee, Emersyn and Piper. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford, her parents C.O. and Helen Gustafson, her brothers, Llewellyn and "Buddy" Gustafson, one grandson, Darren Westmore, son-in-law James Gallant and sisters-in-law Phyllis Gustafson and Delores Gustafson.
