Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Dorothy (Blake) Paradis, 74 of Woonsocket, passed away peacefully on March 10th, with her devoted son by her side. Born May 1st, 1950, in Holyoke MA to Ernest R. and Shirley (Senacle) Blake. Dorothy leaves behind her only son Antonio Feliciano along with her five cherished grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was a sibling to Michael Blake. Patricia, Laurie, Theresa and Andrea Blake, Alice Roache and Michelle Fish.
Dorothy was the "best" mother and grandmother; she devoted her life to her family and took great pride and joy in caring for her beloved. Although French Canadian, she learned as a young mother to Speak fluent Spanish and cook traditional Spanish dishes. An excellent cook she made many traditional Spanish favorites including hearty stew-beef and rice, rice and pigs' feet along with many other favorites that she lovingly made for and shared with her family. She had a quiet demeanor but was tough as nails on the exterior and was not shy and would not hesitate to communicate her thoughts and opinions, more intimately she was loving, patient, smart and determined.
Before becoming a mother and dedicating her life to her family, she excelled in everything she did. She taught herself to type and worked as a typist and office worker for multiple companies in Massachusetts. She was known as the fastest typist in her office. She also worked in the healthcare industry as a nursing assistant and cared for many in need during their most difficult times. Dorothy also had her own stand at some of the larger Flea Markets where she could sell her products and, in her own quiet way, enjoy the many different people she encountered. She loved gardening, was an avid BINGO player. She loved small dogs and birds, at one time owning over one hundred Cockatiel birds. She enjoyed watching crime shows like Chicago and her all-time favorite movie which she could watch over and over was Erin Brockovich who like Dorothy was a smart and determined woman.
Services for Dorothy have been entrusted to the Berarducci Funeral Home of Woonsocket and will be private.
