Dorothy Jean "Dottie" Parella, age 85, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, in San Jose, California, leaving behind a legacy of love and family devotion. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, on February 1, 1940, Dottie was the cherished daughter of Rose Marie Reveland. Dottie is predeceased by her beloved husband, John James Parella; her father and mother in-law, John and Virginia Parella; and survived by her brother-in-law Gary Parella (Debby).
On October 8, 1960, Dottie married the love of her life Johnny James Parella and together they had a beautiful forty-year marriage. Their partnership was filled with joy, laughter, and a love of family, and together they were an inspiration to others. There was no mistaking the love and devotion they shared.
Together, they raised three children: Craig Adam, Laura Jean, and Nancy Ann. Family was the cornerstone of Dottie's world, especially her seven grandchildren: Eric and Megan Parella; Ryan, Kevin, and Lauren Cali; and Patrick and Jack Moran. Dottie's home was a hub of warmth, laughter and games, always filled with the tantalizing aromas of her homemade cooking.
Dottie's legacy is one of boundless love – a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed enough to know her.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 5-8 p.m. at Darling & Fischer Memorial Chapel, 231 E Campbell Avenue, Campbell; and a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Santa Teresa Parish, 794 Calero Avenue, San Jose. Reception to follow at the home of Paul and Nancy Moran. In celebration of Dottie's life, traditional mourning attire is not expected. Guests are welcome to wear colors that reflect her vibrant spirit.
