Dorothy M. Penepacker

Dorothy M. Penepacker, 88, formerly of US Highway 522 South, McVeytown, Mifflin County,
Pennsylvania; and formerly of Elmcroft of Reedsville, passed away on November 5, 2022
at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Dorothy was born on September 25, 1934; a daughter of the late Clyde B. and Matilda C.
(Herrington) Penepacker of Strodes Mills, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania.
The last survivor of her immediate family, Dorothy was predeceased by her three sisters;
Marjorie C. Gaither, Helen M. Penepacker, and LaDonna M. Penepacker.
Dorothy graduated from McVeytown-Oliver High School, McVeytown, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, with the class of 1952. She was an honor student and proudly attended class reunions over the last seventy
years. Her best high school friend, Alice (Espigh) Yoder remained by her side throughout her life and Dorothy was extremely appreciative of their relationship and the assistance Alice provided for her.
Dorothy was employed by and retired from Russell National Bank, Lewistown, Mifflin County,
Pennsylvania. Many treasured friendships were created during her employment and Dorothy was
proud to attend the Russell National Bank reunions.
A member of Light Ministries Church, Dorothy was extremely strong in her faith and active in the
church activities. She enjoyed singing with the Praise and Worship Group, as well as singing duets
with her sister LaDonna. Dorothy also spearheaded the ladies craft group and provided many years
of sharing her clerical talents in church related events.
Dorothy was extremely talented in both music and the artistic fields. She played the violin, the piano and organ, and also the saxophone. Dorothy loved multiple artistic talents, such as crocheting, knitting,
tatting, arranging flower bouquets, and various craft projects.
Prior to her decline in health and mobility, Dorothy enjoyed her life and friends at Elmcroft Assisted
Living; especially, the church services and hymn sings, the craft activities and her "special" friends
In the Dining Room.
Special thanks to Rhonda Rivera for her talents in caring for Dorothy's personal needs and preferences
throughout her years at Elmcroft, without her Dorothy would not have been able to enjoy the
"special" things she was used to having in her life.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9th, 2022, at King-Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown, PA; a viewing will be from 2:00 PM until the time of her service at 3:00 PM.
