Dorothy Platson Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

On the early morning of October 10th, 2025, Dorothy Ann Platson (Leggett) passed away peacefully at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Dorothy was born April 21, 1942, to Leo & Ruby Leggett, and was raised in Kingston, Tennessee. Eventually, she relocated her family to Northern Wisconsin in 1980.

Dorothy had 7 children, 31 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

As a career, you would find Dorothy pursuing a CNA, LPN, or a Cook position within the local nursing homes, hospitals, and even restaurants.

Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her friends & family, going to the casino, especially with her great friend, "Grandma Bonnie", attending live concerts, listening to her favorite artist, Charley Pride, cooking, road trips, being outside, shopping extravaganzas, and watching her favorite tv shows, Judge Judy, Steve Wilkos, First 48, Law & Order, and top favorite Golden Girls.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Leo & Ruby Leggett; her children, Kimberly & Mark; her best friend, Bonnie; her siblings; and granddaughter.

She is survived by her children, Mike (Kim), Terri (Dan), Deb (Jeremiah), Renee, and Lori; her 31 grandchildren; her 54 great-grandchildren; and her 2 great-great-grandchildren. We also want to include her several nieces, nephews, and beloved bonus children.

Those who knew Dorothy will remember her for her infectious smile and overwhelming laughter, her deep-rooted faith in Jesus, and her unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone she encountered. She had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed her path.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, WI. A visitation will take place from 4:00pm-7:00pm on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date.

Dorothy's pallbearers are Anthony McCarty, Brandon McCarty, Caleb McCarty, Braydin Lindner, Jerod Lyons, Treavor Sherrard, Christopher Oswald, & Andrew Johnson.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jordan Johnson, Nathan Ahlm, William Oswald, Timothy Bricker, and Britney Josephson.

There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to our neighbors, social workers, friends, and family, who were there for us through her journey. Also, a heartfelt thank you to the Amery Hospital & Regions Hospital for doing everything they could.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Dorothy's GoFundMe. Your generous support will help cover the unexpected expenses associated with the funeral she envisioned.

Let us reflect on the past with gratitude, celebrate the present with enthusiasm, and face tomorrow with unwavering confidence.

We would also like to remember Dorothy's cherished friends, Grandma Bonnie, Audrey, and Billy, whose love and friendship brought her so much joy.

There are a few things that will always remind us of Dorothy; her peanut butter sandwiches, golden girls on repeat, and her famous life motto she said to everybody: "I'm a hillbilly and proud of it."
