Mrs. Dorothy Laster Raper, 84, of Duck Hill, passed away Monday, September 5, 2022 at her residence. She was born September 23, 1937 in Winona to Homer L. and Ruth Shaw Laster. Dorothy was extremely loyal and possessed an extremely strong work ethic. She spent over 50 years working in the business office of the local Chevrolet dealer and still was actively working as a rural mail carrier with the United States Postal Service, a position she held for over 30 years. She also was blessed to have many friends that she had acquired through years of selling items at markets and festivals all over the area. Dorothy was a devoted member of the Elliott Church of Christ. While she devoted many years of her life to her work, time spent with her family was what she enjoyed most. Her passing leaves a hole in the hearts of those who knew and loved her and she will be missed for many years to come.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 9, 2022 at the Elliott Church of Christ with Bro. Ken Salley officiating. Interment will follow in the Duck Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday evening at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service Friday at the Elliott Church of Christ.
Survivors include her son, David Raper(Stephanie) of Duck Hill; four grandchildren, Alexandra Upp(Matt), Neal Marlow, Lee Marlow(Shana) and Kerry Marlow(Ashley); and five great-grandchildren, Leah Marlow, Brice Marlow, Mary Kathryn Marlow, Will Marlow and Molly Ruth Marlow.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles E. Raper; daughter, Kathy Raper Marlow; two sisters, Juawice Gordon and Lorene Salley; and two brothers, Clyde Laster and R.T. Laster.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Abel, Kerry Marlow, Lee Marlow, Neal Marlow, David Raper and Quint Raper.
Memorials may be directed to the Elliott Church of Christ.
