Dorothy Roberta Rochester

Dorothy Roberta Rochester, 93, passed away Tuesday November 4, 2025. She was born on December 7, 1931 in Montreal, Quebec Canada, daughter of the late Henry and Muriel (Biffin) Peters. She worked for many years at the Royal Bank of Canada before meeting the love of her life, Richard "Dick" Rochester in 1962. She and Dick married on April 29, 1963 and settled in Essex Center. When their children entered school, Dorothy took a job as a bookkeeper in the hot lunch program at the Essex Town School District where she worked until her retirement in 2002. She and Dick enjoyed many trips to Hawaii over the years and always longed to return. She spent much of her free time knitting and donated hundreds of hats and mittens to charity every Christmas.
She is survived by: her son Scott Rochester and wife Barbara of Milton, her daughter Traci Rochester of Essex Center, her beloved granddaughter Taylor Rochester of Essex Center, her cousin Priscilla McGuire and husband Ken of Calgary, Alberta Canada.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Dick, her parents and her brother Donald.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude and love for the staff at Green Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation for caring for Dorothy like family.
A memorial service will be held Saturday November 15, 2025 at 11:00am at St James Episcopal Church, 4 St James Place, Essex Junction with inurnment immediately following at Mountain View Cemetery, Cemetery Rd, Essex Center.
