Brian Donoghue, age 53, of South Burlington, Vermont died on Sunday, September 21, 2025 after a 12 year journey with brain cancer.

Born in Yeadon, PA, he was the son of John (Jack) J. Donoghue and Helen M (Fiorello) Donoghue.

A 1989 graduate of Haverford High School he went on to earn a Bachelors of Science Degree in Architectural Engineering from Drexel University in 1994. Post graduation he was employed as a civil engineer at Frederick R Harris Inc and later at McMahon Associates. While working as an engineer he simultaneously served as the Head Coach for the women's basketball program at Penn State Delaware County. After seven years of juggling both professions, his passion for coaching women's basketball won out and he decided to switch to coaching full-time. Anytime he was asked if he missed engineering, his answer was always, "Only on payday."

He was an assistant coach at East Stroudsburg University for three years, then the Head Coach at King's College for 11 years where he guided the team to the NCAA Division III National Tournament "Sweet-16" round in 2012. Before stepping away from the collegiate coaching world, he served as an Assistant Coach at The University of Vermont and volunteered at St Michael's College.

He will be deeply missed by family, his teams and the countless friends he touched with his unwavering authenticity. He built unbreakable bonds, from dusty little league diamonds to collegiate basketball arenas. The ultimate connector, he faithfully reached out on every special occasion and non-occasions, proving true friendship is timeless.

Brian will be lovingly remembered by his "home team" consisting of his wife of 27 years , Andrea (Campbell) Donoghue; children, Patrick, Mackenzie and Liam; parents, Jack and Helen Donoghue; sisters, Traci Huddleson (Matt) and Kim Donoghue; his 'favorite mother-in-law,' Kathryn Campbell; many nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, Oct 3, 2025 at 6:00 PM in the Hall of Fame Room on the lower level of the Student Union Building at Penn State Brandywine, 25 Yearsley Mill Road, Media, PA 19063.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, Oct 10, 2025 at 6:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 73 Essex Way, Essex, VT 05452.
