Dorothy Briggs Rouse, (92), formerly of Rhode Island and Florida, passed away surrounded by family on December 10, 2025, at Woodland Terrace Assisted Living.
Dorothy was born on September 23, 1933, in Providence, Rhode Island to Herbert Henry Briggs and Dorothy Straight Briggs.
After graduating in 1951 from Lockwood High School in Warwick, RI, she was a volunteer, and later worked as a secretary, for the Rhode Island Chapter of the Hemophilia Foundation, retiring in 1988. Dorothy married Thomas Alvin Rouse in Warwick, Rhode Island on May 22, 1954.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, sister (Phyllis Glendinning), husband, and one son (Thomas P. Rouse). Surviving Dorothy are her children: John (Bernadette) Rouse, Elizabeth McCarty, and Gary (Wendy) Rouse, all of Rhode Island; and James (Mary) Rouse and Matthew (Dawn) Rouse of Michigan. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.
In accordance with Dorothy's wishes, cremation has taken place, and she will be laid to rest at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.
A private graveside service will take place later.
Memorial contributions may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, PO Box 22324, New York, NY 10087, or a Hospice of choice.

My condolences to the entire Rouse Family. I have fond memories of Dorothy from the 1970s when I was their paperboy. She was always so cheerful and treated me with kindness. May God Bless You.
