Dorothy Jane Settle 82, of Calhoun, Kentucky went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 20, 2025 at her home surrounded by her beloved family. Dorothy Jane Priar was born June 19, 1943 in Utica, Kentucky to the late William Lawrence and Ethel Mae Sparks Priar, after her mother's death she was raised by her step mother, Mary Elizabeth Brown Priar, and was married to Richard Lee Settle on June 13, 1958.
Dorothy retired from Glenmore Distillery in Owensboro and was a member of the Madisonville Church of Christ. She loved the Lord most of all and was known for her hospitality and always putting others' needs before her own. Dorothy was passionate about the friendships she made and she loved to cook. She adored spending time with her children and grandchildren. Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and countless memories.
In addition to her parents and step mother, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Richard Lee Settle, who died November 28, 2016; a son-in-law, Bobby Shutt; a daughter-in-law, Mary Nell Settle; two brothers, John Priar and George Priar; and two sisters, Marvia Dean Lewis and Lillian McFadden.
Dorothy is survived by a son, Richard Scott Settle of Calhoun; a daughter, Regina Lynn Shutt of Hartford; four grandchildren, Lacey Edwards (Steve) of Greenville, Emily McCombs (Cletus), Amy Mincy (Michael) both of Calhoun, and Lance Shutt (Kodi) of Hartford; twelve great-grandchildren, Elle Marie Groves, Lucas Groves, Carter Edwards, Piper Epley, Raylan McCombs, Linley Mincy, Lyric Mincy, Larson Mincy, Lenox Mincy, Easton Shutt, Aniston Shutt, and Embry Shutt; two special family friends, Daniel Miller and Bernardine Edwards; several nieces, nephews, and many other dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, October 24, 2025 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Dorothy's family from 10:00 A.M. (noon) until 1:00 P.M. Friday at Musters in Calhoun.
The Dorothy Jane Settle family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Madisonville Church of Christ; 1035 North Main Street; Madisonville, Kentucky 42431.
Dorothy's services will be streamed live on musterfuneralhomes.com at 1:00 P.M. Friday.
