Dorothy A. Smith (Stone)
Mariaville – Dorothy A. Smith, 80, passed away on July 27, 2025.
Born in Schenectady on May 16, 1945 Dorothy was the daughter of the late Raymond and Vera Stone.
Graduate of Schalmont High School. Dorothy retired from Sal’s Quality Market. Previously waitressed at Katina’s and Kalil’s Diner for many years which she loved.
Dorothy (Dottie) was a nurturer. She loved gardening, cooking and wildlife. She was known for a “Great pot of sauce” and was always praised for being an excellent cook. Her home was always filled with friends, loved ones and the aroma of a fresh pot of coffee. She cared deeply for everyone in her life and made sure they knew it. She will be missed by anyone that had the pleasure of knowing her.
Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alvin Smith, her daughter Brenda J. Gorton (Smith), siblings Raymond, Theodore, Peggy and Ethel.
She leaves behind her daughter Sherry A. Coons, Grandsons Arthur G. Coons III and Dylan C. Gorton, great granddaughters Emilia G. Coons and Juliana K. Coons, son in law Charles W. Gorton (Jodi) and family, 7 step children, nephews, nieces and cousins.
Celebration of life will be held on Tuesday August 5th at 12 noon at Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. Visitation will precede the services from 10:00 – 12:00.
