Mrs. Iola Bertha Lydick, 90, of Amsterdam, NY passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, August, 28, 2025.

Born in Camden, Nova Scotia, Canada on June 3, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Francis and Muriel Reid. She grew up in Nova Scotia and attended local schools. She was a graduate of New Brunswick Bible Institute in Canada, where she met her future husband, Ray L. Lydick.

On June 7, 1958 she was united in marriage to Revered Ray Lyman Lydickat The Peoples Church in Truro, Nova Scotia. That union was blessed with 57 years until his passing on May 21, 2016. Iola passed on what have been Ray's 93rd Birthday. She was also predeceased by her sister, Helen Allen; her brothers, Frank, Kenneth, George and Gerald Reid; and her great granddaughter, Kelsey.

Iola became a naturalized citizen in 1962 while living in Glen, New Hampshire. Iola was mostly a homemaker, but served along with her husband as he pastored churches in Glen, New Hampshire and Olamon, ME. In the 1970's they moved to Amsterdam to serve at Family Bible Church, where they were still members following retirement.

She is survived by her sisters, Lillian Hicks and her twin, Viola Hicks; her children, Angel Dykes and Vanessa Lydick; a foster daughter, Johanna (Angel) Warner; four grandchildren, Shawn (Nicole) Porath, Johnathan (Carolyn) Porath, Diann (Roy) Gunzburg and Darius Gainer; five great grandchildren, Nathan, Autumn, Evaleen, Mary and Magnolia; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 10a.m. at the Family Bible Church, 449 Thayer Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010 with Pastor Dennis Burke presiding. Interment will follow in Van Vechten Cemetery, Pattersonville, NY.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 from 5p.m. until 7p.m. at the Rose & Hughes Funeral Home, 200 Church Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Please visit the online memorial at www.roseandhughesfh.com

Memorial contributions may be made to Family Bible Church in Iola's memory. The family would like to thank her care giver, Diana for all she has done in Iola's final years.
