Dorothy Elizabeth Turkett

Dorothy Elizabeth (Lebo) Turkett, 73, of Uvalde, Texas passed away on May 18, 2025.

Lebo was born on May 23, 1951, in Uvalde, Texas the daughter of Merwin Anderson and Patsy Anderson (Whitehead).

Lebo graduated from Uvalde High School in 1969, and soon after began a career in banking where she remained employed four decades and retired as Senior Vice President of the Uvalde National Bank.

Lebo married Rayne Loyd Turkett on April 10, 1971, in Uvalde, Texas. During their marriage Lebo gave birth to two children, Michael Rayne Turkett and Patrick Loyd Turkett. They remained married until Rayne’s untimely death on November 30, 1980.

Lebo led a quiet life after retirement and was the happiest taking care of her many animals and showing off pictures of her grandchildren.

Remaining to cherish Lebo’s memory are children, Michael Rayne Turkett and wife, Shannon, of Brackettville and Patrick Loyd Turkett of Uvalde; grandchildren, Hayden Rayne Turkett of Ballinger, Brendan Lacy Turkett of Oxnard, California and Rylin Jo Turkett of Hondo; siblings, Kathy Langner and husband, Larry of Knippa, Rebecca Pribbenow and husband, Troy of Llano, Audrey Sagebiel of Llano, Richard Anderson and wife, Denise of Santa Clara, California and Michael Anderson and wife, Janie of Racine, Wisconsin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lebo is also survived by her longtime companion, Steve Schaefer of Uvalde and his children, Steve Schaefer Jr, Shawna Zellars, Scott Schaefer and Steve's grandchildren who Lebo had a fond affection for.

Preceding Lebo in death are spouse, Rayne Loyd Turkett; parents, Merwin A. Anderson and Patsy Marie Carter (Anderson), and brother, Robert Anderson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025 (her birthday) from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Funeral Home. Funeral/Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 10:00 am at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Funeral Home, with Mr. Jeff Jackson officiating. Interment will be at the Hillcrest Cemetary in Uvalde, Texas.

Pallbearers will be; Michael Turkett, Patrick Turkett, Richard Anderson, Michael Anderson, Brian Langner, Hayden Turkett.

Honorary pallbearers will be; Richard Kelley, Rayne Kelley, Beco Diaz, Jared Jordan, and Nate Jordan.
