Dorothy was born on February 1st, 1931 and passed away on
April 14th, 2025 at the age of 94Dorothy VanBuskirk, a woman of remarkable spirit and inspiring vitality, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025. Born to Anton and Virgie Anderson on February 1, 1931, in Wenatchee, WA, Dorothy radiated a warmth that could light up the coldest winter day. Her infectious laughter and spirited personality touched everyone who had the pleasure to know her. In the words of Helen Keller, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing." Dorothy embodied this quote, living every day as an adventure, guided by her love for life and her unparalleled strength.
Dorothy spent most of her life in Centralia, WA, where she was widely known and loved for her creative pursuits and her role as a Store Supply Maintenance worker at Yard Birds. Her zest for life, coupled with her funny, sparkling personality made her a beloved figure in her community. She was a master of crocheting, creating intricate designs that were nothing short of art. Her love for terrarium-making was well-known, her creations a miniature reflection of her vibrant spirit. She was a woman of many talents, loved for her creativity, her spunk, and the unadulterated joy she brought to every moment.
Family was the cornerstone of Dorothy's life. Her love for her family knew no bounds and her home was always filled with laughter, love, and the smell of homemade food. She leaves behind her daughter, Janet Michael; granddaughter, Dawn Braziel; and great-grandchildren, Marina Lopez and Karissa Thornton. She was preceded in death by her father, Anton Anderson; mother, Virgie Anderson; daughter, Kathy Breck; and brother, Earl Anderson. To quote Laura Ingalls Wilder, "Home is the nicest word there is," and Dorothy's home was a testament to this belief.
We invite you to share your memories, stories, and photos of Dorothy on her memorial page. It is in remembering and celebrating her life that her spirit continues to live on. Please join us in paying tribute to a woman whose life was a symphony of love, laughter, and radiant energy.
