Dorothy Weitnauer Obituary
Dorothy Weitnauer, age 92, of Quincy, went to her eternal home on Thursday, May 18, 2023. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
Dorothy was born May 7, 1931, in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Alfred and Marie Rudloff Schaer.
Dorothy was a graduate of Dunlap High School and went on to attend Brown's Business College in Peoria. She worked for Block & Kuhl and Company in Peoria and at Brower Manufacturing in Quincy before joining Blessing Reimen College of Nursing. Dorothy retired from Blessing Reiman after 23 years as a Library Assistant. After her retirement, she proudly worked as a resident Assistant at Chaddock. She was a member of Payson Road Christian Church for many years. She was a proud member of the Solo Club of Quincy. Dorothy was a history buff and enjoyed researching genealogy.
Survivors include four children, Katherine (Sam), Karen, John, and Alycia (Bruce). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter in law Jill Weitnauer, a son in law Dennis "Duff" Coulter, a great grandson Christian Gronewald, a brother Alfred Gardner, and a sister Caroline Sims.
Visitation: 10:00 am - 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
Services: 11:00 am Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Pastor Scott Mikkelson officiating. Burial in Ellington Home Cemetery to follow.
