Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy JoAnn Wilson will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Rush Funeral Home, Hineston, with Father Thomas Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery, Boyce, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
Mrs. Wilson, 82, of Alexandria, entered eternal rest on Friday, March 1, 2024, with her loving family by her side.
Dorothy was born and raised in Baton Rouge and later moved to Gardner. She worked many years for the Louisiana Department of Health and Services in the Mental Health Department, where many of her coworkers and patients became more like family. In her early years, she enjoyed sewing and doing arts and crafts. She also enjoyed watching all the birds and animals that visited her yard, even keeping a journal of the different types. Above everything, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Dorothy was a deeply spiritual woman who felt called by God to pray for those she met, and she never met a stranger. Her heart was pure and her goal was to serve the Lord. She had a lengthy prayer list and those on it now have their own guardian angel. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Ray "Butch" Fancher, Sr; her second husband, James Kenneth Wilson; one daughter, Tammy Elaine Fancher Bolton; and her parents, Alan and Dorothea Watson.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include two sons, Thomas Ray "Butch" Fancher, Jr. (Deanna) of Elmer, and Murrell Alan Wilson of Gardner; two daughters, Lisa Fancher Perry (Nick) of Deville, and Laura Faye Ogorek (Walter) of Alexandria; one brother, William "Billy" Watson of Baton Rouge; eleven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Hineston, on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at Rush Funeral Home, Hineston, on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Walter Ogorek, Nick Perry, Jonathon Jones, Kenny Rachal, Richard Delcomyn, and David Constance. Honorary pallbearers will be Murrell Wilson and Thomas Ray "Butch" Fancher, Jr.
