Dorris Stringer Houpe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Noble & Kelsey Funeral Home, Inc. - Salisbury on Dec. 22, 2025.
In the dew of the morning, Mrs. Dorris Louise Stringer Houpe, 73, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, North Carolina. Born on August 7, 1952, she was the beloved daughter of the late Calvin Stringer and Betty Jean Tabor Stringer.
A devoted wife, mother, daughter, and friend, Mrs. Houpe lived a life marked by love, dedication, and faithful service to her family and the church.
She was educated in the public schools of Rowan County, where she attended R. A. Clement High School, which later merged with West Rowan High School, from which she graduated with the Class of 1970. She continued her education at Livingstone College, where she earned her degree in 1981.
Mrs. Houpe's unwavering faith in God was evident throughout her life. A faithful member of South Central Church of Christ in Raleigh, she served wherever she was needed, freely giving her time and talents in support of the church. Her presence was felt through her dedication, humility, and servant's heart. God was her foundation, and she diligently instilled in her children a love for God and a commitment to His Word.
Those left to cherish her loving memory include her devoted husband of forty-four years, Larry Dean Houpe, Sr.; two sons, Larry Dean Houpe, Jr. (Diana) of Sims, North Carolina, and Anthony Houpe (Bianca) of Wilmington, North Carolina; siblings, Calvetta Peterson (Edward) of Dunns, North Carolina, Betty Ann Stringer of Raleigh, Debbie Blackwell of Garner, George Stringer (Roheima) of Detroit, Michigan, and Eric Todd Stringer (Tiffanie) of High Point; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
"May the works I've done speak for me." Mrs. Houpe's legacy of faith, service, and love will live on through her family and all whose lives she touched, continuing to inspire them to believe, trust, and depend on the Word of God and on one another.
