Dortha Hardy Carson

Ms. Dortha Hardy Carson, age 78, of Nebo, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at her residence. A native of McDowell County she was born on January 13, 1946 to the late Eula Virginia Hardy and Dolphus Tate. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Irene Wilkerson, Elaine Tate; brothers, Charles Hardy, Ralph Hardy, Billy Hardy, Jimmy Tate, Larry Tate, and John Wayne Tate.

 

She was a member of the Livingstones Church of God. Ms. Carson enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, going to yard sales, and gardening. She was known as a very loving but firm mother, grandmother, mentor, and friend. She was constantly helping others, she was both their biggest fan and critic.  

 

She is survived by her children, Alena Carson (Prentiss), Eric Carson (Stacey), Lanora Williams (Will), Nakia Carson (Laccarna); Bonus Children, Arell Rutherford Jr. (Libby), Jody Cuthbertson (Lea); Sisters, Linda Rutherford, Nora Hardy, Ruby Rutherford, Shelia Tate, Rosena Lytle; Brothers, Toney Hardy and Earl Tate; Host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends and family.

 

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Beam Celebration Center with Rev. Arell Rutherford Jr. officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 10:15 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.
