Dorthea Annette Morris

Dorthea Annette Morris, affectionately known as D'ann, or Grammy Dee, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025. Born February 15, 1959, she was the daughter of the late William C. James and Dollie Giles James. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Mitchell Morris; a son, H. Scott Morris; and a brother, Jesse Woodson James.
D'ann was a certified nursing assistant for over 40 years working at both healthcare facilities as well as private duty nursing. Her profession was just one of the ways she shared her love for her Lord with her servant's heart. D'ann had faith that would move mountains and was a true prayer warrior. She enjoyed her life in Waverly and the friends she made there. D'ann was involved in the Friends of the Waverly Library and assisted with Bags of Hope. She enjoyed going to the local farmers market, eating the delicious food and collecting handmade crafts from the vendors. Family was the most important part of her life. She attended countless softball, baseball, and football games as well as every birthday and holiday gathering.
Left to cherish her memory is her companion and best friend, Tom; son, Patrick; daughters in love, Cathy, Trish, and Sherri; grandchildren, Zach, Rachel, Caitlin, Hunter, Virginia, Raven, Aaron, Makayla, Calob, and Adam; and her great-grandchildren, Elliot, and Hattie.
A memorial service will be held in her memory on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Sportsman's Club in Wakefield. The family will receive friends after the service.
