Dorthea was born October 7th, 1934 in Morgantown, WV, the daughter of the late Roy Danley Sr. and Fannie (Blosser)Danley.
Dorthea graduated from Morgantown High School in 1952. She was employed by Monongahela Power Company for ten years. In 1962, Dorthea married Harold Pixler and the two of them bought the Westover Motel. After Harold’s death in 1987, Dorthea continued to run the motel until 2000, when she retired from the business. For the last sixteen years of Dorthea’s life, she was dedicated to her sole grandchild, Daylene - whom she cherished.
She is survived by her daughter Donna Pixler-Davis, husband Delbert , and granddaughter Daylene, of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina; sister-in-law Erma Danley; nephew Mark Danley and wife Debbie; and niece Shelia Bolyard and husband Jay, all of Morgantown; several great-nieces and nephews; and her cousin Dortha Ann Boyd of Huntsville, Alabama with whom she shared a special bond.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harold; and brother, Roy Danley, Jr.
The family wants to express sincere appreciation to her devoted caregiver Dawn Dulaney, and to WV Caring Hospice for their exceptional care and support of Dorthea. Their compassion, dedication, and guidance brought immense comfort and enabled her to remain at her home where she wanted to be.
