Robert Neale Hoerle passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026. He was born May 22, 1941 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Edna Marie Crowley and William Neale Hoerle.
Robert dedicated his life to serving, installing, and repairing elevators for commercial businesses of all types including power plants, mines, hospitals, and other commercial buildings where he was affectionately known throughout the tri-state area for over 50 years as “the elevator man.”
He was a true Renaissance man, a jack of all trades always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. Robert was generous to a fault – he never let anyone go without even if that meant he went without himself. He was also a car enthusiast, a lover of history and all things military, and held a special fondness for our men and women in uniform.
Robert will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
Robert is survived by his wife, Dolly Hoerle; daughter, Dawna Knox and her husband, Andy; son, Neale Hoerle; grandson, Rijker Hoerle and his wife, Patience; beloved great-granddaughter, Phoebe; sister, Janice Treese and family; as well as half-brothers and half-sister, Bill Hoerle, Doug Hoerle, and Michelle Tanner, along with their respective families.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Friday, March 20th from 2:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 5:00 PM with Pastor Lawrence Rebelo officiating. A private family committal service will take place at a later time at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
