Doug and Charlotte Lloyd went to be with the Lord together, holding hands, just six hours apart on Sunday September 14, 2025. They spent 77 wonderful years together as high school sweethearts, partners, and best friends. Their love story was one of true devotion, and they remained inseparable until the very end.
They spent their final days at Heron Cove 1, where they were surrounded by care, compassion, and the presence of family. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Heron Cove 1. A special thank you to Carrie, their extraordinary nurse, and Punky, their devoted caregiver, whose kindness and support brought them immense comfort.
Doug and Charlotte were deeply rooted in their faith and love for the Lord. They faithfully attended church every Sunday, cherishing their fellowship. When mobility became difficult, they continued to listen to services from the car, never wavering in their devotion.
Together, they built a beautiful family and are survived by their children: Bubba and his wife Cynthia, Susan and her husband Billy, Linda and her husband David. They were proud grandparents to James and his wife Samantha, Hunter and his wife Katie, and Rachel and her husband Drew. They were also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Presley, Layla, Charlotte, Avery, and one on the way who brought them endless joy.
Their love for one another and for their family will forever remain an inspiration. Their legacy of faith, devotion, and tradition will continue to live on through those who loved them most.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Hermitage Baptist Church, Church View. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 71, Urbanna, VA 23175 or Hermitage Baptist Church, P.O. Box 190, Church View, VA 23032.
