Angier, NC: Mr. James Douglas “Doug” Johnson, age 81, passed away on Labor Day, Monday, September 2, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be 3:00PM-Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church 2900 Ebenezer Church Road, Coats, NC 27521. Rev. David Smithey will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Johnson was born on May 26, 1943 in Harnett County, NC to the late Paul and Dorothy Godwin Johnson. Alongside his wife Freda, and his family, Mr. Johnson was the owner of Doug Johnson Farms. Labor Day was a day where the family gathered to pick up pumpkins, in preparation for the annual fall harvest season, where they have sold pumpkins to several generations of families. Doug never took a day off, which is significant that he entered into his eternal rest on Labor Day. Mr. Johnson was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, and was loved by his family.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Freda Adams Johnson, children, Clark Johnson and wife, Kathy of Angier, NC, Tara Thompson and husband, Chris of Florida, and Nickie Johnson Brown and fiancé Rusty Taylor of Angier, NC; grandchildren, Whitney Gilmore and husband, William, Wesley Johnson and wife, Lydia, Caitlin Campbell and husband, Rhys, Cameron Redmond and special friend, William Savoy, Conner Redmond and wife, Sydney, Tucker Brown, Kason Brown, and Easton Brown; six great-grandchildren, Hadley, Alice, Henry, Lachlan, Declan, Nolan; sisters, Ann Johnson O’Neal and husband, Jimmy of Dunn, NC, and Paulette Warren and husband, Tony of Angier, NC; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM, Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Coats, NC and other times at the home.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be sent to Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund 2900 Ebenezer Church Road, Coats, NC 27521.
