Doug Ledbetter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cremations of the Ozarks - Hollister on Jan. 7, 2026.
Doug Ray Ledbetter, age 63, of Hollister, Missouri, passed away peacefully in his home on December 22, 2025. He was born on February 26, 1962, in West Plains, Missouri, to William Jackson and Eva Virlene Hall Ledbetter. From the very beginning, Doug's life was deeply rooted in family, hard work, and a love for the outdoors.
Doug found peace and joy in the simple things-being in nature, hunting and fishing, relaxing by the river, working on cars, and spending time on horseback. Horses were not just a passion but a calling, and he devoted much of his life to working as a horse trainer and farrier, a role he took great pride in. His knowledge, skill, and respect for the land and animals were evident to all who knew him.
Above all else, Doug was a devoted father and grandfather. Time spent with his daughters and grandchildren meant everything to him, and he never missed an opportunity to teach, share stories, or pass down the wisdom he carried with him. His patience, guidance, and quiet strength left a lasting imprint on their lives.
Doug will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Jacqui Branstetter and her husband, Chris, and Desiree Ledbetter, all of Hollister, Missouri; his cherished grandchildren: Jaidyn, Colton, Kynzleigh, Christopher, and Kayla; his great-grandchild, Braxton; and his siblings: Dave Ledbetter, Dean Ledbetter, Dan Ledbetter and his wife, Tina, Don Ledbetter, Doris Hamilton and her husband, Guy, his twin brother, Dal Ledbetter and his wife, Lori, and Devin Ledbetter. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Eva Virlene and William Jackson Ledbetter; his infant brother, Charles Ledbetter; and his brother, Dale Ledbetter.
Doug's life was one of love, knowledge, and connection. Those who knew him will forever cherish the memories made with him and the legacy he leaves behind.
A celebration of life will be held on January 11th at The Historical Post Office 204 E. Main, West Plains, Missouri 65775 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. All are welcome and appreciated. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
