Doug Wildin, 79, of Winterset, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Azria Health in Winterset.
Douglas Wayne Wildin was born on July 20, 1944 to Darrel and Shirley (Potter) Wildin
in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Winterset High School, and he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1963, serving during the Viet Nam era. On April 15, 1983, Doug married Paula Mullins in Kansas City, Kansas.
Doug worked as a systems analyst for many years. He started out in Florida at AT&T (Formerly Ma Bell) before moving to Washington state to work for Boeing Computer Systems. Doug decided to semi-retire and he and Paula moved to Arizona. While in Arizona he worked in real estate. After a while, Doug decided it was time to move back home to Iowa to be closer to family and friends.
Doug enjoyed playing golf, watching NASCAR, and traveling. He and Paula were able to take many trips together including many cruises, Italy, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica. In his younger years, he liked to camp and hunt. He would tell many stories about his hunting trips with his dad and uncles. Doug was very family oriented and loved spending time with family and friends.
Doug is survived by his wife, Paula; daughter, Melissa (Greg) Shahan; son, Daniel Wildin; brother, Gary Wildin; sisters, Charlotte (Butch) Gordon, and Jill (Jeff) Brammer; grandchildren, Taylor (Caleb) Miller, and Molly Shahan; recently arrived great grandson, Gregory Leland Miller; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrel and Shirley Wildin.
