Doug Anderson, 75, passed away on September 26, 2025 at his home in Albert Lea, MN. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home in Albert Lea, with a visitation held an hour prior to the service. Pastor Gary Thorman will be officiating.

Doug was born on November 29, 1949 to Herman and Bernice Anderson in St. Paul, MN. Growing up, Doug attended the Breck Military School for Boys, and graduated from Murphy High School. After high school, he attended St. Cloud State University, and majored in Physical Education, with a minor in Geography. After college, he worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for 15 years. For 3 years he was the Logistics Director at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital in Arizona, and for 25 years worked at Home Depot as a Regional Manager of Deliveries. Doug was also a member of the Minnesota Army National Guard for 12 years, becoming a Sergeant First Class. In his free time on the weekends, he would also grade coins, stamps, and sports memorabilia. In 2021, he moved back to Minnesota to retire.

During the 1980’s, he was introduced to Sheri Springborg by a mutual friend, On their first date, they danced to Ann Murray’s “Can I Have This Dance”. He married her on November 28, 1985. They were looking forward to celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary this upcoming November.

Doug loved to spend the summers in Flagstaff, AZ, because it reminded him of being back in Minnesota. He had a passion for trains. He enjoyed sitting on the patio with Sheri, listening to the trains going down the track and hearing the whistles.

Doug is survived in death by his wife Sheri; children Elizabeth Rose Anderson and Tiffany June Anderson; and his five grandchildren Loren, Alexis, Haley, Austin and Savannah; and his in-laws K(Greengo) and John Adamec.

Doug is preceded in death by his parents Herman and Bernice Anderson; and his brother Duane Anderson.
