Steven Otto Frederick

STEVEN OTTO FREDERICK, age 76 of Waseca, died on the evening of Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at his home.

Steve was born in Waseca on July 16, 1949, to parents Orlyn and Ann (Gostomczik) Frederick. He attended Sacred Heart School in Waseca and graduated with the Scarlett class of 1967. On August 16, 1969, Steve was married to Kathy Marie Larson at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Albert Lea. He spent many years driving tractor and farming before beginning to work in construction for Mid-State Reclamation. He was a member of the former Eagle’s Club in Waseca and was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. Steve enjoyed following Nascar, snowmobiling, hunting, meat processing, cooking, and playing cards.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Kathy Frederick of Waseca; three daughters, Wendy (Chris) Swenson of Billings, MT, Joanne Frederick of Waseca, and Kristen Frederick of Waseca; and one sister, Roxanne (Tom) Jes of Plymouth. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and an infant daughter, Deborah Frederick.

A private family graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca. A public celebration of Steve’s life will be hosted by his family from 2-6 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the Waseca American Legion. Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service in Waseca is handling the arrangements.
