Douglas Alexander Baker appreciated every moment until the day he left us on September 13, 2025. At the age of 35, it may be surprising to hear someone tell their mother that they had done all that they wanted to do, but that was Doug. In most things, Doug was content and joyful. It’s hard to imagine a young father walking through cancer until he couldn’t walk any longer, yet never complained and never gave up, but that was Doug. He always had a sense of humor, was always overwhelmingly kind, and was always abundantly considerate… but do people really get more silly, more kind and more considerate when they are confined to their bed? Doug did. As a teenager and young adult, Doug built his physical strength at the gym. He was the strongest boy I knew. As he grew up and became a father, a husband and a leader, he built another kind of strength. He built the strength of steadfast integrity and diligent loyalty that most men turn their back on when things get hard. He built the strength that comes from fatherhood and partnership that bring most men to their knees. He was the strongest man I knew. When you think of strength, you don’t always think of gentleness, patience, and humbleness, but that was Doug.
The legacy of Doug Baker lives on through the cherished memories of his family and friends. We lift up the family that miss him dearly: Son, Rory Baker; Mother, Connie Baker (née Rubinson); Father, David Baker; Sisters Rebecca Baker, Rachel Baker Kennedy, Jessica Baker and Sarah Baker Ambrose.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Sunday, 9/21, at Beth Israel Congregation of Chester County (385 Pottstown Pike, Chester Springs) followed by a luncheon to celebrate Doug’s life at Tasty Zaytoon Restaurant (10 Marchwood Rd, Exton).
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Doug’s memory may be made to A Haven (a Child and Family Grief Center in Exton, PA) or the American Cancer Society.
