Douglas Howard Bartlett of Arvada, Colorado passed away surrounded by family on Sunday June 9, 2024, at the age of 71. Doug was born on May 23, 1953 in Denver, Colorado to Friede and Robert Bartlett. He was the youngest of three children. In Doug’s youth, he was an Academic All-American and a 3x All-State Wrestler and Colorado Freestyle Wrestling State Champion, which earned him the honor to represent Colorado in Japan – an experience he was proud of. He went on to wrestle and play football in college.

Doug graduated from Arvada High School in 1971 and married his wife of 52 years, Karen (Spears) Bartlett, on March 19, 1972. He went on to receive Bachelor’s Degrees in Mathematics and Accounting from Western State College and spent the early part of his career teaching math at Rifle High School, Pomona High School and Arvada High School. While Doug enjoyed teaching, he eventually transitioned to corporate America where he spent approximately 40 years working at Lockheed Martin and Ball Aerospace as a Proposal Analyst.

While Doug was extremely dedicated to his work, he was mostly known as a family man and was extremely involved in the lives of his daughter and two sons. He was always home for dinner and was present at every activity, sport, school meeting, and celebration that involved his children. This only continued once Doug’s grandchildren were born.

Doug enjoyed genealogy, camping, fishing, and watching sports (especially his grandkid’s sports).

Doug is survived by his wife Karen; three children Kelly Bartlett (Justin), Brian Bartlett (Carrie) and Andrew Bartlett (Aleiya); siblings Carolyn Bartlett (Gail) and Bob Bartlett (Stephanie); grandchildren Harrison and Owen Bartlett, Matthew, Jaxon and Avery Desterhouse, Amelia Bartlett; and a large extended family and wonderful friends.

A memorial service and reception will be held on June 20th at 10:00 am at Horan & McConaty located at 7577 W. 80th Avenue, Arvada, CO 80003 followed by a graveside burial at Arvada Cemetery.
