Douglas Bell Sr.

Douglas Bell was born January 21, 1928 to the union of Otho and Fannie Bell of Dickson County. He was raised as a child on the family farm and educated in the Dickson County School system. As a adult, he was united to Frances(Shelton) Bell with whom he shared his life and raised six children. Douglas was a dedicated professional, retiring after 35 years of service with the Army Corps of Engineers. Outside of his career, he was a gifted handyman and mechanic. Whether it was a car, a lawnmower, or a project around the house, Douglas lived by a simple code: "If it's broke, he can fix it. If it's brand new, he could make it better."

Douglas was preceded in death by his Parents: Otho and Fannie Bell, Siblings: Pearline Shelton, Delcie Gleaves, James "OP" Bell, Richard Bell, Wilma Scruggs, Henry Bell, Estella Wilson, Wife: Frances Bell, Daughters: Margorie Bell and infant baby girl. He went from labor to reward on the night of December 30, 2025. He gained his wings to take flight and take his rest with our heavenly father.

Douglas leaves to cherish his memory his children: Libon D. (Diane) Bell, Jr, Curtis (Fiancée-Regina Butler) Bell, Kelvin (Angela) Bell, Jessica (John) Smith; Grandchildren, Thalaya Bell, Ericka Peoples, Justin Bell, Jason Bell, Callie Marie Bell, Tiffany Ward, Trey Smith, Austin Smith and Spencer Smith; Siblings: Chonoliah (Glendon) Teasley, Billy O. (Ann) Bell, Special Friend: Daisy Farmer and a host of many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 12noon in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Pastor James Trotter officiating and Pastor G. Jamal Teasley eulogizing. Burial will follow in EverRest of Cheatham in Pleasant View, Tennessee. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 3pm to 7pm and Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 11am until the service hour of 12noon.
