Lonzenar Bell, age 84 of Roxbury, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026.

Lonzenar "Zena" was born in Blackville, South Carolina, the youngest of four daughters

born to Alonza and Janie Jenkins. Beloved wife of Escoe Bell. Devoted mother of Tonya

Boyd, Chad Bell and Escoe Bell, Jr. Loving sister of Vermell Bell, the late Gloria Jenkins

and Rosalee Courtney. Also survived by 5 cherished grandchildren, Eric, Boyd, Jr.,

Joshua Boyd, Brittany Underwood, Chelsey Underwood, and Jamal Davis, and great-

grandson Ares Underwood, and many extended family and friends.

Zena, along with her husband Escoe, three sisters and their spouses moved from South

Carolina to Boston during the late 1950's. She began her career in healthcare at

Massachusetts General Hospital, where she worked for many years before later

embracing her entrepreneurial spirit as the proud owner of Zena's Hair Salon in

Roxbury, a place where she not only worked but also built meaningful connections

within her community.

Zena's legacy of faith, love, generosity, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who

were blessed to know her.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 10th at the Joseph Russo Funeral

Home, 814 American Legion Hwy, ROSLINDALE at 11:00 am. Interment will be private.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 10th at Joseph Russo Funeral Home, 814

American Hwy., ROSLINDALE from 10:00 - 11:00 am prior to the service.
