Once he graduated from high school, he started his lifelong passion for driving trucks. Hauling logs out of the High mountains was his absolute favorite. Recently he informed us he always missed the Smell of fresh-cut timber. He spent time as a heavy equipment operator / hard rock miner for the local #9 out of Denver Colorado.
While at the Henderson mine in Kremmling Colorado. He meet the forever love of his life Flora Ray. They were married in Pagosa on Aug 18th, 1976. In 1979 they moved to Bloomfield NM where they would raise their kids while Douglas would manage the East Fork Ranch. Continually investing in his love and passion he held for his family, livestock, and trucks. After 17 years at East Fork and retired he found pleasure in keeping their property on west Hammond looking exquisite. Trees grass and any flowers he could get his hands on. A man who loved with all his heart. He took great pride in his family. Taught us more than words can express & will forever have a special place in all our hearts.
