Douglas "Gene" Eugene Crider was born on November 16, 1940, in Shannon County, Missouri, to Dallas and Irene (Smith) Crider. He departed this life on January 13, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri at 84.
Gene attended high school and went on to establish himself as the proud owner of Southside Motors, where he dedicated many years of hard work and commitment to serving his customers and fostering relationships within the community.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dallas and Irene Crider.
Survivors include his children, Doug (Terri) Crider of Marshfield, MO, Kevin (Elissa) Crider of Rolla, MO, and Kristi Long of Eminence, MO; brother, Junior Crider of Eminence, MO; grandchildren, Dallas Crider of Tampa, FL, Addison Crider of Springfield, MO, Garrett Long of Eminence, MO, and Grant Long of Springfield, MO; and niece, Lisa Fasso of Eminence, MO.
Gene was in the car business for much of his life. He loved buying, selling, and trading cars, but most of all he enjoyed his customers and the people he did business with. He also had an immense love for auto racing. He spent every spare moment watching, driving, and working on race cars. Even after hanging up the helmet, he spent many weekends watching his two sons race and share his passion for the competition. Gene also looked forward to his yearly hunting and fishing trips. Whether it was rabbit hunting with family in northern Missouri, white bass fishing with family and friends in southern Missouri, or going to deer camp right here at home, he loved every minute of it.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Yarber Mortuary, Eminence, Missouri, with Bro. Wayne Crider officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1-2:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will be in New Eminence Cemetery, Eminence, Missouri.
