Douglas Davidson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Buklad-Merlino Memorial Homes - Yardville on Mar. 29, 2026.
December 19, 1957 - March 26, 2026

Douglas D. Davidson, 68, of Yardville, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 26, 2026, surrounded by the comfort of the place he loved most. Born on December 19, 1957, in Glasgow, Scotland, Doug came to the United States with his family at the age of three in 1960. He lived in Trenton from 1960 to 1966 before moving to Yardville, where he built deep roots and lasting friendships.

Doug began his education at Sunnybrae School in 1966, later attending Grice Middle School, and graduating from Hamilton High School West in 1976. Following graduation, he proudly entered the United States Marine Corps. Though his service was cut short due to health issues, he was honorably discharged and carried the pride of a Marine with him throughout his life.

Doug was known for his incredible work ethic and his inability to sit still. He loved staying busy and working with his hands. He began his career at Hoffman-LaRoche in Cranbury, followed by time at Benton Graphics in the early 1980s, where his beloved dog Bubbs was often by his side. In 2004, Doug proudly took over General Lawn from his father, continuing the family tradition. He later worked at Sarnoff Corporation and concluded his working years at Clinton Plumbing and Heating in the fall of 2025. No matter the job, Doug approached his work with dedication, reliability, and pride.

Beyond his work, Doug found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was a wonderful cook who loved hosting holidays and bringing family together around the table. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed playing pool, darts, trying his luck with the lottery, and more recently, woodworking and scrapping. Recycling was important to him, and he took care to do his part in helping the environment. Above all, Doug had a deep love for animals, especially dogs. He had a gentle heart and would have cared for every animal he encountered if he could.

Doug was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was predeceased by his parents, Dorothy A. Davidson and Robert S. Davidson; his brother-in-law, Jaceson Shook; and his nephew, Jeremy Remboski.

He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 39 years, Loretta Davidson; his children, Joel Yesenosky and his wife, Christina, and Jesse Yesenosky and her husband, Scott Sheplock; his sister, Barbara Davidson-Shook; his brother-in-law, John Guadagno and his wife, Barbara; and his sister-in-law, Maria Remboski and her significant other, Dino Verde.

He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Kyla Yesenosky and her fiancé, Biagio Lazaric; Thomas Yesenosky; Ty Zadworney; Ryan Sheplock and his wife, Julie; Brett Sheplock and his wife, Autumn; great-grandson, Callum Sheplock; niece and goddaughter Dana Lertch, her husband, Michael, and great-nephew, Walker; nieces Patricia Burns and Lauren Remboski; nephews Patrick, Michael, and Anthony Remboski; his beloved dog, Bella; along with many cousins and close friends in both the United States and Scotland.

Visitation will be held for family and friends on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Yardville Memorial Home, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road, Yardville, NJ 08620.

Cremation will take place privately, and a celebration of life will be held in the summer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Jeremy Fund at https://thejeremyfund.org/ or to the ASPCA at https://www.ASPCA.org/.

Doug will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kind heart, love of family, and deep compassion for animals. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy of love that will continue to live on in all who knew him.
