Douglas Lee Southers (“Doug”), born October 2, 1962, passed away on March 14, 2026. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Doug is survived by his children, David (Brenda), Erica, and Amber (Carl). He was a proud grandfather to Elijah, Trey, Liberty, Abby, Kelsey, Nate, Kaiti, Hayleann, CJ, Alexandria, and Austin. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel.
Doug was known for his love of the outdoors and the simple joys of life. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and hunting, and he had a special place in his heart for his dogs. He will be remembered for his strong spirit, his love for his family, and the memories he created with those closest to him.
A private service for family and close friends was held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Southers homestead in Sylva, North Carolina.
Doug will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
