Greg Ward

James Gregory Ward, 59, passed away on March 27, 2026. He was born on June 8, 1966, and was a son of Frankie Deitz Ward and the late James Enley Ward.

Greg was a 1985 graduate of Smokey Mountain High School and went on to earn his Associate's Degree from Southwestern Community College in 1987. He dedicated his career to working as an electronic technician with Sonopress. Outside of work, Greg found great joy in the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was also a member of Scotts Creek Baptist Church in Sylva.

Greg will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 30 years, Williaree Phillips Ward; daughters, Kimber Ward (Albert), and Brooke Roberts (Matthew); sister, Gayla Reese (Philip); and grandchildren, Kason and Shauna Roberts.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Bobby Sprinkle officiating. Burial will follow in Madison Seminary Baptist Church Cemetery, Marshall. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
