Douglas Brian Erdely, 61, of Erie, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024 at Saint Vincent Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 31, 1963 in Erie, a son of the late Frank R. Erdely and the late Karen D. (Larson) Erdely Sabatine.
Doug was a graduate of Tech Memorial High School Class of 1981. He worked at Erie Computer and at Erie Insurance.
Doug was a pioneer in the local internet we have today. He was an avid animal lover, especially of dogs and birds.
He is survived by his sister, Melissa Hansen (Jeff); nephews, James Perry, Bradley Hansen, and Michael Hansen; niece, Christina Perry; and one great-nephew, Prestin Perry. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Harvey; dear friends, Julie and Dom, Roman, Nate and Vicky, and Ian; and beloved pets, Max, Chunk, Congo, and Squeak.
Friends are invited to call on Wednesday at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, 2122 Raspberry Street, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Memorials may be to the ANNA Shelter, 1555 East 10th St., Erie, PA 16511.
