David "Yogi" Erdely

David "Yogi" Erdely, 83, of Millcreek, passed away Saturday October 18, 2025. He was born in Erie on September 23, 1942 a son of the late Carl J. Erdely, Sr. and Helen D. Matlak Erdely.
Dave graduated from Tech Memorial High School where he played football with Fred Biletnikoff. He served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Korea. He worked for Kaiser Aluminum for 30 years until his retirement and was a member of Sacred Heart and St. James Catholic Churches. He enjoyed photography, golfing, and bowling.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Frances J. Fetzner Erdely, and two brothers, Carl J. and Timothy Erdely.
Survivors include his brother, Jerry Erdely (Lucille) of Erie; many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Robyn Nye, and a special nephew, Bryan Fetzner; and his special friend, Nancy Taraszki of Erie
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and are invited to a prayer service there on Friday at 12:45 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
