Jo, Troy and Julie:
I am so sorry for the loss of your dad and Jo, your husband. I have many many years of memories of Doug. As a child growing up Doug was always picking on me and that never stopped even through my adulthood. This I will miss. His smile and his laugh will stay with all of us forever.
God Bless!

Jo Thieling
December 27, 2007
My name is Jo Thieling - I've worked for the City of Ramsey for over 18 years and Doug is one of the first residents I got to know. Doug truly cared about his community and attended lots of Council meetings to keep up on things and to offer his opinion. He worked for me as an election judge for the last few elections. I also knew Doug through Lord of Life Church - he cared a lot about his church and church family. My many visits with him consisted mostly of City happenings and fishing talks (my husband is an avid fisherman) but he'd also let me know when he hadn't seen me in church for awhile. Doug always gave me a big hug whenever he'd see me - I will miss our visits and laughs - and most of all I will miss his big hugs. He was a really neat person - and he will be missed by many. My sympathies to the family - I know his passing will leave a huge hole in your family circle. God bless his memory - and God help you through your pain. Most sincerely, Jo Thieling

TIM CARLSON

ONE OF MY EARLIEST MEMORIES IS FISHING WITH DOUG. LIKE MOST YOUNG KIDS FISHING MY MOUTH PROBABLY WAS WORKING MORE THAN MY INTENT ON FISHING. DOUG SAID TO ME IF I HELD MY LIPS A CERTAIN WAY I WOULD CATCH A FISH. THIS OF COURSE INVOLVED MY PUTTING MY LIPS TIGHTLY TOGETHER AND KEEPING THEM THAT WAY. WELL I CAUGHT A FISH. A VERY NICE NORTHERN. SO WE CONTINUED TO FISH. I CAUGHT ANOTHER, AND ANOTHER. PRETTY SOON IT WAS A VERY QUIET BOAT. I NOTICED ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE IN THE BOAT ALL OF A SUDDEN HAD THEIR LIPS TIGHTLY CLOSED AS I DID. INCLUDING UNCLE DOUG.
I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THOSE GREAT TRIPS FISHING AND HUNTING.
LOVE,
TIM CARLSON
