Douglas H. "Doug" Gerkin

Douglas "Doug" H. Gerkin, age 85, lifelong resident of Howell, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025. He was born August 27, 1939 in Howell, the son of Lawrence "Larry" and Irene (Hoover) Gerkin. He is survived by his son Shane (Linda) Gerkin, daughters Cindi (Van) Saliba and Angie (Jeff) Minock and son Jeff Gerkin. Grandfather of Andrew, Adam, Angie, Stephen, Jake, Spencer, Bradley, Marleigh, Taylor and Cody. Also survived by his twelve great grandchildren and sister, Deanna Norwood. He was preceded in death by his son Scott (Karen) Gerkin and his wife Carol (Slayton) Gerkin. Doug was employed as a Test Driver for the General Motors Proving Grounds. He had always been an avid athlete and enjoyed golfing and playing softball. His family will remember him as a very caring father who was always interested in their lives. A private graveside service has been planned, with burial in Lakeview Cemetery, Howell.
