James Harry Gerkin, age 84, of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025.
James was born in Saginaw on January 11, 1941, to the late Leonard E. Gerkin and Ruth E. (Hinte) Gerkin.
James was a proud graduate of Arthur Hill High School, class of 1959. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He had a successful career in the electronics field, having worked for Michigan Bell and later Ameritech, which is now known as AT&T. James was passionate about golf and bowling. His love for movies provided him with countless hours of entertainment, and he was an avid Detroit Lions and Tigers fan.
James is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Barbara (Farley) Gerkin; two stepsons, Jeffrey (Bridget) Ward and Michael Ward; four step grandchildren: Mitchell, Madeline, Meredith, and Clara; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patricia and Howard Colthurst.
