Douglas “Doug” Paul Greer, age 80, of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, passed away on July 17, 2025. He was born January 6, 1945, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Thomas Joseph and Mary Kathryn Greer.
After graduating high school, he served in the US Air Force for 4 years. He then worked for and retired from Duquesne Light after over 30 years. Doug enjoyed golf and bowling and was a talented artist. He was also a bagpiper and longtime member of the McDonald Bagpipe Band.
In addition to his parents Doug was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Kathleen, Rosemary, and Susie; 3 nieces, Roxanna, Debbie, and Kathy; 2 nephews, David and Mathew. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 51 years, Cathy “Cath” Ann Greer; his sons, Mike (Amber), Tom, and Dan (Melissa); grandchildren, Devlan and Kylee; 5 sisters, Ruth Ann (Frank) Henry, Theresa Craig, Diane Greer, Eileen (Herschel) Chapman, and Maureen (Jack) Lemankiewicz; 2 brothers, Tom (MaryAnne) Greer and Steve (Patti) Greer and their families. Doug is also survived by his pets Zoe and Thor.
Family and friends will be received for a memorial gathering at Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home, 1701 Route 51, Jefferson Hills, PA 15025 on Wednesday, July 23rd from 9am – 12pm at which time his memorial service will be held. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with Bagpipes and Full Military Honors at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers Doug’s family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
