Beloved community member, veteran, friend, brother, and uncle - Douglas Hall passed away on September 5, 2025, at the age of 77. Douglas was born January 25, 1948, to Gilbert and Margaret Hall in Louisville, Kentucky. He was raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia. After graduating from Bayside High School in 1968, Doug joined the United States Army. He served as a Sergeant in the Army Infantry during the Vietnam War in which he was wounded and subsequently honorably discharged, earning a Purple Heart among other accolades. After being discharged from the Army, he returned to Virginia. In 2010, after the death of his loving mother, he moved to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico to be near his sister. Doug enjoyed visiting local establishments like Skip's Barber Shop, the Conoco station, and his favorite restaurants to playfully engage with his community. Everywhere you go in T or C, there are stories about Doug to be shared. He had an immense love for animals and was known to feed, water, and walk multiple dogs around town. He was going through the application process to become a volunteer for the Truth or Consequences Animal Shelter at the time of his death. Doug loved his family, spending much of his time with his sister and brother-in-law (and his favorite dog ever, Maya) in T or C, and also visiting his brother in New Jersey and his nephew in Kansas City. Music was a staple in Doug's life and he would be known to challenge others to music trivia and to blast his favorite songs from his baby - a blue Mustang GT. But Doug's favorite pastime was playing cornhole with his best friends, a daily routine he rarely missed. Doug is survived by sister, Sandra Padilla; brother-in-law and friend, Ivan Padilla; brother, Gil Hall (Terri); nephew, Mark Stark; nephew, Huston Hall (Tricia); niece, Gillian Doll (Matt); his best friends, including Rudy Hernandez (Crescentia) and Eloy Valdes; as well as a community full of others - Doug didn't know a stranger. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Margaret Hall. He was treasured and will be greatly missed.
